- Wall Chimney Range Hood – These types of Range Hoods are attached to the ceiling of the kitchen and then hang over your cooking oven. They require quite a bit of space but are an ideal item when you do not have cabinets in your kitchen.
- Island Range Hoods – These types of Range Hoods again are attached to the ceiling and hang over your island type cooking oven. They cover the entire width of the stove as is necessary and then vent out the pollutants outside.
- Downdraft Range Hoods – These types of Range Hoods are installed over island type cooking oven and the piping and tubing is attached to the floor. The ducts on the floor suck the kitchen off its smoke and airborne grease and then filter it.
- Ductless Range Hoods – These types of Range hoods are used to remove the kitchen from smoke, grease and other harmful gases. They do not have the capacity to filter air but disperse the air back into the kitchen.
Components of a Range Hood
The main part of the Range Hood is the extractor fan which is in most ordinary range hoods, a rotary extractor fan. This contributes to a lot of noise in the kitchen and therefore some prefer the centrifugal extractor fan. You must be very careful in selecting the size of this fan as it should be proportionate to the kitchen room.
