A clog can be a very big problem at home, especially when you need to use the drain, such as when you relieve yourself using the toilet or when you’re washing dirty wishes. While a plunger or some chemicals are of help when it comes to unclogging drains and sinks, another method can be done. You can unclog your sink or drain using a drain snake.

A drain snake is a mechanical cable with a clamp or set of teeth on one end. On the other end of the drain snake is a gear that allows the user to adjust the length of the cable when inserting it down the drain. There is also a control or a button to near this gear to set the clamp in motion.

To fix a clog using a drain snake, all you have to do is to insert the drain snake into the drain. Rotate the gear to lengthen the wire cable, like one would do with a fishing pole. When the clamp end of the drain snake hits the clog, you can start with the unclogging.

There are two ways to unclog using a snake drain. First, you can use the clamp to chomp on the clog. This method will break the clog into bits and pieces, allowing it to go down with ease. Most people prefer this step because it is less messy.

The second method is to let the clamp bite on the clog. When the clamp has gotten hold of the clog, the user rotates the gear in the other direction to bring the cable wire up the drain. This second method is messy, and it is often suggested to have a waste basket or bucket ready for the clog. However, this second method is also very useful when the thing that’s clogging your drain is something valuable, like a mobile phone.

Bathtub clogs occur when you don’t clean your bathtub regularly or if something of a significant size fell down its drain. That’s why it’s important to make sure that the tub is regularly maintained, and that the stopper is plugged when it is not in use. In this article, I will share some ways to help you unclog your bathtub.

Ways to Unclog Bathtub

1. Use vinegar and baking soda.

One way to unclog your bathtub drain is to pour a box of baking soda down the chute. Then, gradually pour the vinegar as well. The chemical reaction that occurs when the vinegar and baking soda make contact helps melt the clog. However, the setback to this is that it takes a while before the entire clog is melted.

2. Use chemical drain cleaners.

An alternative to using vinegar and baking soda is to use chemical drain cleaners. There are liquid chemicals that can be purchased from your local hardware or supermarket, which help melt down the clog in your drain. These chemicals are formulated in a way similar to the vinegar and baking soda reaction. Remember to be careful with handling these chemicals when using this method.

3. Use a plunger.

Like unclogging a toilet, you can use a plunger to unclog your bathtub as well. Simply press the plunger repeatedly over the bathtub drain. It should pump out the clog down the chute.

4. Use a wire hanger.

You can also use an old wire hanger to pull out the clog. You can do this by taking a wire hanger and disconnecting its joints. Hook one side of the wire hanger and use this to pull the clog.

5. Use a drain snake.

An alternative to the wire hanger method is to use a drain snake. You can buy this from your hardware. Using a drain snake, you can destroy the clog into bits and pieces by chomping off it. Or, you can also pull it up the chute as well.

Clogs are one of the most common problems that a person encounters in his home. But thank God it’s also easy to fix. And in this article, I am going to teach you how to unclog a sink in different ways.

How to Unclog Sink

1. Use a plunger.

The first thing you can do is to use a plunger. It’s the most common method when it comes to unclogging something. Take a rubber plunger and put it on top of the drain hole. Push firmly and repeatedly. You’ll know if this method works when the water in the sink begins to go down at its normal rate.

2. Use a chemical drain cleaner.

Detergent and other chemical drain cleaners can be bought in the market. You can use this to unclog your sink. Pour a good amount of the liquid into the drain. Preferably, this should be done while the sink basin isn’t full of water. You can also use baking soda and vinegar. The chemical reaction created by vinegar and baking soda will help melt the clog away. All you have to do is pour the soda into the drain and gradually add vinegar.

3. Use a drain snake.

A drain snake is a wire mechanism used for unclogging drains. It has a set of teeth or clamp at one end, and a gear to control the cable and the clamp on the other. Insert the clamp end into the drain. When you’ve hit the clog, squeeze the gear to chomp on the blockage and rip it to pieces. You can also try to pull the blockage out using the snake drain. An alternative to this is to use a wire hanger. Disconnect the end of a wire hanger and use the hook end to pull the blockage.

With these three easy ways to unclog your drain, there’s no way you can’t fix those blockages.
